Another Case Solved Wiki

One of your friends is in a deadly danger. But who and why?!

"This was not a normal case. An anonymous phone call warned me that someone I know was in a deadly danger. I had to act, no matter the pay."

Solution[]

Detective: *yawn* Who's calling my office at this ungodly hour?

???: Listen up, detective, I'm not telling this twice. The people close to you are in danger. You need to act quickly. I can't risk telling you more.

Detective: What are you talking about? Who's in danger?

??? I already talked long enough to you. Figure it out.

Detective: Darn, he hung up! I need to figure out what he meant.

Witnesses[]

Detective: Maybe I can deduce something out of the phone call. Maybe someone will give me some tips?

  • 4 photos
  • 4 fingerprints
  • 3 maps
  • 2 photos
  • 1 knuckle
  • 2 maps
  • 2 fingerprints

If you fail:

Detective: I've got no clue about what to do next. Why did he have to be so cryptic? Maybe it was just a prank call?

If you win:

Detective: The only person who could be up to something no good and tell me about it... would be McLean!

Leonardo McLean: Uh, hi there, gumshoe. You picked a weird time to call. Need something?

Detective: I just got your anonymous call, you crook! What are you up to? Who's in danger?

Leonardo McLean: What? I never called you! I don't know what are you talking about!

Leonardo McLean: Uh, hi there, darling. You're up for a late night date?

Detective: I just got your anonymous call, you crook! What are you up to? Who's in danger?

Leonardo McLean: What? I never called you! I don't know what are you talking about, sweetheart!

Detective: I got an anonymous call a while ago, warning me that something bad will happen to people close to me.

Leonardo McLean: And I'm the only crook you know, so you automatically suspected me? Well, big thanks! I dunno, just trace the call and let me sleep!

Detective: Of course! "I already talked long enough with you." Leo is right. They wanted me to trace back the phone!

City search: So Close, So Distant[]

Detective: I need to trace the call back to a physical location. It was a local number, somewhere in this area.

The call came from a place that is:

  • not more than 2 from ACS
  • more than 3 from cafés
  • more than 3 from barbers
  • more than 2 from police stations
  • more than 1 from factories
  • On the map there are 2 cafés

Solution: (5,6)

If you fail:

Detective: Maybe tracing the call was a false lead after all.

If you win:

Detective: That's very close to my office! There are only two buildings here. An old building designated for demolition... and an apartment house where a lot of my clients live!

Crime scene search: Hot Evidence[]

Bob Jansen: Hey, boss! Good to see ya. Look, I... I kinda heard something suspicious. Some ruckus at the attic. Not more than three minutes ago.

Detective: Just what I expected. Wait here and be on the look out.

Detective: Huff. Here's the attic. It's so quiet. Yet I can sense that something is wrong. Something strange in the air. Like... gasoline?

When you enter the next room:

Detective: Darn, the building is on fire... and it blocked the exit! This can't be a coincidence. I need to find out how the fire started before the inferno engulfs everything!

If you go forward 3 rooms:

Detective: There's no way out... unless I can find a way to get out through the window.

If you fail:

Detective: It's useless! I need to get out through a window!

If you win:

Detective: An empty jerry can. It still reeks with gasoline. Just like I thought, this was a case of arson. I better grab it, and run!

Lucy Gordon: Not so fast, gumshoe. Drop the jerry can. I saw you entering the attic. You started the fire!

Detective: What? You got it all wrong! This jerry can was left behind by the arsonist. We need to get it to the station and check it for prints!

Lucy Gordon: How can I know this isn't some ploy to make me drop my guard?

Detective: A ploy? Lucy, the whole building is on fire! You can cuff me when we're out of here, but now we need to grab the jerry can and run!

Lucy Gordon: What are you doing here, girl? I saw you entering the attic. And the jerry can... Did you start the fire?!

Detective: What? You got it all wrong! This jerry can was left behind by the arsonist. We need to get it to the station and check it for prints!

Lucy Gordon: Sorry, but I don't know if I can trust you, girl.

Detective: Then don't, but the whole building is on fire! You can cuff me when we're out of here, but now we need to grab the jerry can and run!

Lucy Gordon: All right. Head for the fire escape. That's how I got here in the first place.

Suspect identification: It's Not Over Yet[]

James Valentino: I'm commissioner Valentino. I believe we've meet before, when you were posing as an undercover police officer.

Detective: Am I under arrest?

James Valentino: No. Officer Gordon is a good cop, but she can be overzealous at times. Still, I need your help, detective. I have a person to identify.

Solution: Paul Litzer

If you fail:

James Valentino: You're tired, detective. You did everything you could. Go home, take a nap. We'll manage by ourselves.

Detective: But what about the suspect? Who are you trying to identify?

James Valentino: I'm not at liberty to discuss it. It's for the sake of the case, really. Just... don't worry about it, OK?

If you win:

Detective: That's Paul Litzer, a journalist who lived in the building before it burned down. Do you think he's the arsonist?

James Valentino: That's... unlikely. I have some bad news for you. Mr. Litzer didn't make it from the fire.

Detective: ...

Detective: Are you sure it's not a mistake?

James Valentino: You identified him yourself. I'm sorry. But I can assure you, we'll do everything we can to find the arsonist.

James Valentino: One more thing... I know it won't change a thing, but I'm obliged to reward your role in the investigation.

Finale[]

If you fail:

Detective: No, I can't give up so easily. People are depending on me. I can't let them down. I need to re-trace my steps and get to the truth!

If you win:

Detective: Paul is dead. He was an old man. He wrote his will. He was complacent with his life and reconciled to death. But he didn't die in bed, with his daughter by is side.

Detective: This isn't just another "my cat went missing" case. This is real life, where people die because of the wretchedness of others.

Detective: I promise here and now: I'll find the killer and bring him to justice!

Detective: I know you can't hear me Pola, but I promise you - your father's obituary will be an arrest warrant.

Detective: You hear that, Paul? Your obituary will be an arrest warrant.
