That was the last straw. I need to catch Mogilevich before he hurts someone.

"I've got a plan to catch Mogilevich. The tricky part is convincing everyone that McLean is dead."

Solution[]

Lucy Gordon: I've heard about your fight with Mogilevich! Are you all right, honey?

Detective: It was hardly a fight. I had to rescue McLean, while Mogilevich got away.

Lucy Gordon: If he's still on the run, then you're in danger We need to catch Mogilevich before he hurts you or anyone else.

Lucy Gordon: I've heard about your fight with Mogilevich! Are you all right, girl?

Detective: I'm OK, but that jerk tried to kill Leo by tying him to the tracks!

Lucy Gordon: That's what you get when crooks watch too many movies. But Mogilevich is still on the run, we need to catch him!

Detective: You're reading my mind. Come on, I'll fill you on the plan along the way.

Witnesses[]

Lucy Gordon: So how are we going to catch him?

Detective: Simple. We need to spread rumors that his execution of McLean was successful.

Lucy Gordon: Right! Not only we make sure Leo is safe, but Mogilevich will be eager to collect his pay from Malone.

Detective: Correct. And the best way to spread the rumors is by asking too many questions. We need to hurry, before the truth reaches Malone or Mogilevich!

If you fail:

Lucy Gordon: I'm sorry, honey, but folks don't seem to buy our story.

Detective: Yeah. Mogilevich probably smelled the trap. He's smarter than I thought.

If you win:

Lucy Gordon: Nicely done. The rumors are spreading like wildfire!

Detective: Now it's time for part two - finding Mogilevich.

City search: Crime Does Pay[]

Detective: All right. We need to stake out Malone and when the deal is done, trace back Mogilevich to his hideout.

Mogilevich's hideout is:

  • in the distance of 1 from railways
  • not on water
  • more than 1 from campsites
  • more than 2 from warehouses
  • more than 2 from police stations
  • more than 2 from post offices
  • more than 2 from libraries
  • more than 1 from hospitals
  • more than 1 from shops
  • On the map there are 2 shops

Solution: (6,9)

If you fail:

Detective: Mogilevich somehow managed to dodge our tail. He's an expert assassin, I'll give him that.

If you win:

Detective: I think he went in here. A cheap motel.

Lucy Gordon: Hmmm... I remember this place. There was a homicide here not long ago. Scared off most of the clients, so the place is empty.

Crime scene search: Wet Job[]

Lucy Gordon: All right. If he's inside, we need to make an arrest.

Detective: For what? Remember that we don't have any solid proof against Mogilevich. And Leo won't testify in court.

Lucy Gordon: *sigh* So now what? We make him confess?

Detective: Looks like it. We need to split. Get me a police wire, to record Mogilevich's confession. I'll go inside and find a way to confront him.

If you enter the corridor east of the southeast room:

Detective: The locked apartment is where the homicide took place. There's still police tape over the door.

If you enter the southeast room

Detective: He's in the bathroom, I can hear the water running. Hiding in an old crime scene was smart, but not smart enough for me.

If you fail:

Detective: I 've got nothing useful, and I'm facing a professional assassin. I need to fall back and regroup with Lucy.

If you win:

Detective: I'll just take Mogilevich's gun. A little bluff never killed anybody...

Ivan Mogilevich: What are you doing here?!

Detective: I'm the one with the gun, Mogilevich. I'm not really obliged to answer any questions.

Detective: But if you really want to know why I came here to kill you, I'll give you a hint: Leo McLean. He was my friend!

Detective: But if you really want to know why I came here to kill you, I'll give you a hint: Leo McLean. I loved him!

Ivan Mogilevich: I was just following orders from Malone! Kill him, not me!

Detective: But Malone is far away, and you are here, at point blank range. You need to bargain harder than that...

Suspect identification: All on Tape[]

Ivan Mogilevich: All right! I can give you something better! I can give you Covet!

Detective: I hope Lucy's recording this!

Detective: Covet? Ha! What have you got on Covet? You're lying!

Ivan Mogilevich: No, really! He wanted to liquidate a man! I tell you all!

Solution: John Bravucci

If you fail:

Ivan Mogilevich: Wait, you trying to force confession out of me! It is a trick!

Detective: I, uh...

Ivan Mogilevich: I can escape! You will not shoot me! Da svidania!

If you win:

Detective: The description matches John Bravucci.

Ivan Mogilevich: Yes! That was his name. Mayor Covet hired me to find and kill John Bravucci. Bravucci was living a careless life before, so Mr. Covet said it was an easy job.

Detective: Why did he want to kill Bravucci?

Ivan Mogilevich: Bravucci witnessed murder. That is all I know. After prison break, he was out of Covet's reach. Covet couldn't intimidate him to be silent anymore.

Detective: That's all I need. Lucy, you got all that on tape? You can take it from here!

Finale[]

If you fail:

Detective: Well, that didn't go out too well. I've got an assassin hunting for me.

Lucy Gordon: Don't worry, we'll get Mogilevich. Just wait and see. How about a .38 revolver to ease your nerves?

Detective: I was thinking more about a nice back rub.. but a .38 will let me sleep through the night, I guess.

Detective: I was thinking more about a back rub from Leo.. but a .38 will let me sleep through the night, I guess.

If you win:

Lucy Gordon: Good job! We've got the confession on tape, and Mogilevich in handcuffs.

Detective: We're a step closer to bringing Covet down. Lucy Gordon: Right. It won't be an easy task, but I believe we can do it!

Detective: No! I might need them when I eventually confront Covet. I'm a step closer to bringing him down. Lucy Gordon: Right. It won't be an easy task, but I believe in you, girl.
